We're Gabriel and Kristy, the couple behind SailingClubs.com.au and YouSail.

Our dream is simple. Buy a sailing yacht, move aboard and see where the wind takes us. Australia first. Then the Pacific. Maybe much further.

We're not there yet. We're still learning, taking courses, spending time on boats and asking a lot of questions.

Why we built this sailing club guide#

One of those questions kept coming back: where do we start, and who can we sail with?

Which clubs welcome beginners? Where can you learn, join a crew without owning a boat, or find a sailing community close to home? What do all those program names and boat classes actually mean?

The answers were scattered across club websites, forums and Facebook groups. We wanted one place that helped people understand their options and find Australian sailing clubs. So we built it.

That's SailingClubs.com.au. It's the club guide we wanted ourselves, built by two sailors in the making.

We're not going to pretend we've sailed at every club in Australia. We haven't. We're learning as we go, and sharing what we find. The people who run each club are the ones to confirm what's happening there today.

Meet Gabriel, our founder#

Gabriel Machuret is the founder of SailingClubs.com.au and YouSail. His background is in marketing, SEO and app store optimisation—not professional sailing.

What he brings to this project is experience finding information, organising it and making it easier to use. Kristy and Gabriel's own sailing journey is the reason for building it.

Who this guide is for#

You might be preparing for your first lesson, looking for a children's program, hoping to crew without buying a boat, or moving somewhere new and trying to find your next club.

Start with the Australian sailing club directory, explore our practical guides or learn the language with the mascot in Sailing Basics. You don't need a sailing background to start reading.

Where our information comes from#

Club listings, photographs and named-club profile details come from the YouSail database. An import date tells you when this site received the data; it does not mean every detail was independently checked that day.

Our editorial guides explain choices, terminology and questions worth asking. Where technical background needs an external source, we link to it. Club records and general guidance have different purposes, and both can become outdated.

We don't infer a program, berth, boat or vacancy from a club name or photograph. Confirm current fees, dates, eligibility and availability directly with the organisation before booking or joining. Our methodology explains the approach.

Independence, accuracy and images#

We do not sell listing position or verification status, publish ratings we did not collect, or claim to have personally visited every listed club. Any future commercial arrangement will be disclosed where it applies.

Some information may be wrong or out of date. These pages are introductory guidance, not a substitute for practical instruction or current advice from the relevant organisation. Please read our disclaimer and report an error if something needs attention.

Club photographs are supplied through YouSail. AI-created editorial illustrations are labelled; our mascot scenes are not photographs of named clubs or evidence of their facilities.
